My partner and I faced many challenges, it was tough to find sources that support our claims no books, or website was helpful in our research, in fact, most of the sources that we found were from 10 years ago. However, after some digging, we found some excellent sources that support our claim. For example, we found a PDF file that shows the average income a small “Sole ” make in a year, which was very helpful in our search.

We in SMC believe in teamwork. Moreover, as we plan our project and form our company, we work together to build our dream, and when it came the time to present the project we worked together to deliver the idea of our project the most professional way it could be read. We divided the work into 3, and each person from our team talked about a significant part of our company.

I’m happy to learn more about the DOCS+V because it let me understand the topic I am reading or writing more, it let me go in all small details that we usually ignore when we just read a text. Moreover, I am happy that I could analysis more than one type of writing; for example, we analyze an infographic, profile, resume and a cover letter. At this moment, I feel confident in analyzing any text and find all the elements. I will use the DOCS+V in the future to make it easier to understand the text I will be reading.

Resume & Cover Letter

I had a long history of writing a resume and cover letter. I wasn’t expecting much new stuff from this project. But I discover that this was the first time for me to write it academically. I found many new things in the resume that we must include and what is the right way to put the resume in order. We also learned about the three different types of resumes.

At first, it was tough to find a job on the internet that match my qualifications and skills due to that I am not a graduate student. But then one of my friends told me about the SDSU career website. Where we could find jobs for SDSU students on campus and off-campus that match the skills and qualifications of a student not yet graduated. And I found many helpful jobs on the website, but I chose one that matches my major. It also may help me in my future career in business not only, but also the job was exciting.

In most of the job ads that I saw on the SDSU career website, they value the student that has a passion that wants to get experience in working and want to save money for the future. Most of the ads that I saw do not ask for any skills or qualifications; in fact, the jobs were open to all majors and also for all students.

The resume and the cover letter have distinct genres because the resume comes in a straightforward, direct bulleted point. It was very easy to figure out the different genres in the text. In the cover letter, it is a little different from the resume, because it has paragraphs and they all take about one particular thing in the job.

The resume and the cover letter are an easy topic to write. Also, it was enjoyable to write it because it lists all the advantages of the person and it gives a clear message about the person. But I find it challenging to list skills and qualifications in my case.  I am applying for a job that required no skills and qualifications, and only one person will be accepted from all how applied. So, it was too challenging to write a resume with no skills is needed.

Writing a resume and a cover letter was one of the best assignments that I wrote. The academic way to write a resume and a cover letter was a bit challenging, but I hope that I get the job.

Powerful Woman

The logo of Amal Alhabashi business

I interview of the most powerful women in Kuwait, she is my sister “Amal Alhabashi”, she is a mother and PhD student and also a business owner and a CEO of her own company. She also was the main reason that I enter the business field”. she was a second mother to me”. though the interview we spoke about her business life, how she deals with things in her business, and also the writing that she usually does in her job, finally she ended her speech with an advice for new employers and student entering the field. and as my sister always says

“IT WAS JUST A DREAM”

Amal alhabshi

At the begging I thought that the project will be an autobiography about the person , about what we know about the person in general about his life ,but we found later that we have to write about a person specific era and in our project we wrote about the “work life of the person” which is the same field that we are studying in so that will help us in the future.

In this interview, the process was very simple. I spoke with my sister and ask her if I could interview her. Then she asks if I could send her the questions that will be asked in the interview. Finally, we agree on a date and a time for the interview. I love that I interview my own sister and my hero in business, I learned good things from her, although it was uncomfortable to speak with my sister in a very formal way.

A product in the business

When I was writing the profile, I learn many new styles and designs that we never use them in a professional class in the university. For example, the uses of quotation in a profile is different from the normal way that we write in. Also, we try to show the event in the profile and not tell the sorry, in which we make the reader assume from our word what kind of person we are writing about. on the same hand in a profile we try to be simple and direct to the point also we try to make the paragraph short, in other word each paragraph carrie one or two point only.

Sometimes when I was writing the profile, I find it very difficult to describe I person that know without interfering with emotions. In a professional profile like the one I wrote, I had mission to tell the story in the most professional way. I wish that I interview a person that I don’t know or there is no relation ship between us so I could write the profile in a much professional way

“Good vegan , Bad vegan ” analysis

picture from the text by Paul Rogers

At the beginning I thought that project one “ DOCSV Analysis “ would be so hard for international student to understand and discover all the elements of a text and I thought it will be too challenging , maybe I was thinking that I have to find every element in the text and have to analysis it. But later we found more as we go deep in the topic .first we were introduce to the genre question ,which they made the task very easy , by dividing the topic in three simple ways :what is it ? , who read it ? , and what it for ?. by these three question. We will know what is the purpose of the text which make it easy to analysis. Then after we know these three think we move to the second part is to find the 5 element (DOCSV) .

I was asked to analysis one of the text assigned to us about food issues ,and it was “Good Vegan , Bad Vegan ” Written by jane E. Brody. The text was an opinion piece about veganism. And I love how the writer make it very simple and clear to speak about the topic and the way she referred to her sources , but on the other hand I wish I could see more picture and statistics in the text .

Introduction about the writer , you can find
more about Jane in the link above

In this text the writer made it very simple in answering the genre questions from the beginning of the text . she make it very clear that it is an opinion article to educate and to persuade the readers on the right way of being health you could be vegan or meat eater and still you have a good diet . Also the writer argued about some false information. Her readers were both vegetarian and nonvegetarian in USA ,people who care about healthy diet.

At the beginning ,as is mention it was very challenging to understand the topic and to analysis it and to find the DOCSV element, but later as we got in to the analysis it become easier as we read more text , some of the element was very easy to find , but some need more work to find it. The that was assigned to us in this course help me a lot and maybe it will me in the future in improving my skills in analysis .

It was very fun to analyze text , because it make us understand the full text and go deep to what is between the line , and to understand the writer intention in writing this text , and what is his goals .
